Ways of making your wedding unique. Ceremony and Cocktail Hour.
Typical or Personalized Wedding?
You’re finally engaged and your wedding planning is getting underway. You have dreamt about this day since you were a little girl. You envisioned your groom looking handsome in his tuxedo while staring in your eyes proclaiming his love for you. You struggle to contain the tears of joy while he speaks the vows he wrote himself. You already know what season you want your wedding to be because of the colors. Even the color of bridesmaids dresses has been decided for as long as you can remember. Flowers, cake, food, all these things are selected because of your unique tastes. What about your entertainment? Is it going to be unique or typical?
Think about the last wedding you attended, what do you remember most? Was it the food, the flowers, the entertainment? 80% of guests when asked what they remember most about wedding receptions was the entertainment. Was the DJ too loud or just right, on the mic too much or just enough to be interactive or was the DJ just what you’d expect, typical?

Did you date your fiancé because he or she is predictable or par for the course? Probably not. Although, I’m sure in this case normal is a good thing. Let’s face it, wedding receptions are predictable, usual, normal. First is the ceremony, usually very predictable unless the bride, groom or their wedding party decide to do something “different”. We have all seen youtube videos of ceremonies being unique. This is because the bride and groom decided they didn’t want there ceremony to be predictable, usual, “typical”. This part of your wedding is very customizable and we can help.
Let’s move on to the next part of the wedding day, the cocktail hour. Usually filled with hors d’oeuvres, open bar, guests chatting and people getting reacquainted or meeting each other for the first time. Additionally there is music playing. Is it a steel drum player, strings band, or is it sleepy elevator music that the DJ is playing through an iPod. A lot of times the music for this part of the evening gets brushed off as background music. No one will hear it, why bother spending time on it. Unfortunately that is far from the truth. Music sets the tone at any point in the evening. People hear it whether they realize it or not. Why have elevator music playing when you can customize it to be fun, energetic, and to your unique tastes. This isn’t really a time for dance music but why not have energy. Your cocktail hour can set the tone for the rest of the wedding reception. Have fun with it!
